Since that day in November in 1900, the Munsee have continued to live in the Chippewa Hills and the nearby town of Ottawa, Kansas. Many families who moved further out still return to the area to visit family, celebrate holidays, and attend events held by The Munsee Tribe in Kansas. The Tribe is currently led by an Interim Chairperson and the General Committee, who meet to discuss and execute decisions for the Tribe.
In 2024, The Munsee Tribe in Kansas was awarded a Social and Economic Development Grant from the Association for Native Americans. The goal of this grant has been to create a physical and digital Tribal Archive to allow Tribal members greater accessibility to their history and heritage, and to bring the community together through educational and social events. For years, the history of The Munsee Tribe in Kansas has spread across the country- from Alaska all the way to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. With this Tribal Archive, the descendants of The Munsee Tribe in Kansas will be able to connect to and celebrate their history, culture, and heritage for generations to come.
